On the night marking the martyrdom of Muslim ibn Aqil (AS), during the third night of the Muslimiyah ceremonies and coinciding with the eve of Arafah, the Holy Shrine of Hazrat Abdol Azim Hassani (AS) was filled with religious mourning groups, mourners, and lovers of Imam Hussein (AS), as the Karbala of Iran became infused with the fragrance of Muharram.
According to the Department of Public Relations and Islamic Communications of the Holy Shrine, tonight the heavenly sanctuary of Hazrat Abdol Azim (AS) witnessed the presence of devotees who had come from all across Iran to the Karbala of Iran so that, at this moment in history, they could answer the call of "Labbayka Ya Hussein" and respond to the cry of "Hal min naserin yansoroni?" ("Is there anyone to help me?") of Imam Hussein (AS).
The unparalleled gathering of mourners commemorating the martyrdom of Muslim ibn Aqil (AS) in the sacred courtyards and precincts of this shrine of the Ahl al-Bayt was filled with scenes of devotion unlike anywhere else in the world.
On this sorrowful night, young devotees and veteran servants of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) held mourning ceremonies in the courtyards, various areas, and along the routes leading to the holy shrine in remembrance of the first martyr of the Karbala uprising,
while preparing themselves to enter the month of mourning for the Ahl al-Bayt (AS)—the month of Muharram. The ceremony began with a speech by Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Hossein Momeni and elegies recited by Seyed Mahmoud Alavi. It continued with mourning ceremonies by religious groups, and a eulogy recited by Haj Nariman Panahi was among the other parts of this religious and traditional observance.
